Description
Yellow Maroon Clownfish – Tank Bred (Premnas biaculeatus / Gold Stripe Maroon Clownfish)
A bold and striking marine species, the Tank-Bred Yellow Maroon Clownfish is admired for its vibrant golden-yellow body and contrasting white or gold striping. Larger and more assertive than most clownfish species, it makes a stunning centrepiece in marine and reef aquariums.
Compatibility:
Semi-aggressive to aggressive. Best kept with robust tankmates such as tangs, larger wrasses, angelfish, and other confident community fish. Established pairs can become highly territorial, particularly when hosting an anemone. Avoid mixing with other clownfish species.
Reef Compatibility:
Reef-safe. Completely safe with corals and most invertebrates. May form a symbiotic relationship with host anemones, though this is not required for successful captive care.
Diet:
Omnivore – feeds readily on marine pellets, flakes, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. Feed 1–2 times daily to maintain health and vibrant coloration.
Water Parameters:
- Temperature: 24–27°C
- Salinity: 1.023–1.026 SG
- pH: 8.1–8.4
- Minimum Tank Size: 150L
Care Level:
Easy – tank-bred specimens are hardy, adaptable, and generally easier to acclimate than wild-caught fish. Suitable for aquarists of all experience levels who can accommodate their territorial nature.
Top Tip:
Provide plenty of rockwork and clearly defined territories. Maroon Clownfish are among the most territorial clownfish species, so introducing them last can help reduce aggression toward existing tankmates.
