The Yellow Clown Goby is a small, brilliantly coloured reef fish, loved for its vibrant yellow body and charming perching behaviour. Rather than constantly swimming, it spends much of its time resting amongst branching corals or rockwork, making it a delightful addition to nano and larger reef aquariums.

Compatibility:
Peaceful. Ideal with clownfish, blennies, cardinalfish, small wrasses, firefish, and other non-aggressive reef fish. May become territorial towards other clown gobies unless kept as a compatible pair.

Reef Compatibility:
Reef-safe. Safe with most corals and ornamental invertebrates. It naturally perches in branching corals such as Acropora. On rare occasions it may nip coral tissue when preparing a nesting site, but this is generally not harmful to healthy colonies.

Diet:
Carnivore – feeds on small crustaceans and zooplankton. Offer a varied diet including mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods, cyclops, finely chopped seafood, and high-quality nano marine pellets. Feed 1–2 times daily.

Water Parameters:

  • Temperature: 24–27°C
  • Salinity: 1.023–1.026 SG
  • pH: 8.1–8.4
  • Minimum Tank Size: 40L

Care Level:
Easy – a hardy, captive-friendly species that thrives in mature reef aquariums with stable water conditions and plenty of perching locations.

Top Tip:
Provide branching rockwork or SPS-style coral structures where this goby can perch and observe its surroundings. Its small size and peaceful nature make it an excellent choice for nano reef aquariums as well as larger community reef systems.
