White's Tree Frog (Ranoidea caerulea)
The White's Tree Frog, also commonly known as the Australian Green Tree Frog or Dumpy Tree Frog, is one of the most popular amphibians in the hobby. Famous for its chunky appearance, expressive face and generally relaxed nature, this species can range from bright green through to blue-green and brown depending on the individual and environmental conditions. Hardy, fascinating and full of character, they make fantastic display animals for both newer and experienced amphibian keepers.
Habitat
White's Tree Frogs are arboreal and require a tall enclosure with plenty of opportunities to climb, perch and hide.
- Enclosure: Tall, secure and well-ventilated arboreal terrarium
- Temperature: Around 24–28°C during the day, with a slight drop at night
- Humidity: Moderate, generally around 50–70%, with good ventilation
- Lighting: A suitable day/night cycle and appropriate UVB lighting should be provided
- Decor: Sturdy branches, cork bark, vines, foliage and elevated resting areas
- A large, shallow dish of clean, dechlorinated water should always be available
- Regular misting can help maintain suitable humidity and provide drinking droplets
Feeding
White's Tree Frogs are enthusiastic insectivores and usually have an excellent feeding response.
- Diet: Crickets, locusts, roaches, calciworms and other appropriately sized live insects
- Juveniles: Feed smaller meals more frequently while growing
- Adults: Generally feed around 2–3 times per week depending on body condition
- Feeder insects should be well gut-loaded and appropriately supplemented with calcium and vitamins
- Avoid overfeeding, as White's Tree Frogs can readily become overweight

White's Tree Frogs are generally hardy and adaptable when provided with the correct environment.
