Description
The TMC EcoReef Cemala Coral Substrate – Coarse (10kg, 2–3mm grain) is a natural, fossilised coral sand designed to create a stable, reef-style base in marine aquariums and high-pH freshwater setups.
This coarse grade (around 2–3mm) is ideal if you want better water flow through the substrate, reduced dust suspension, and a more structured sand bed that resists compacting over time. It also helps support biological filtration, giving beneficial bacteria plenty of surface area while still allowing oxygenated flow between grains.
Because it’s made from responsibly sourced fossil coral, it naturally helps buffer pH and maintain alkalinity, making it especially useful for reef tanks and African cichlid systems where stable, higher pH conditions are important.
