Description
Plasma Storm Clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris)
A stunning designer clownfish, the Plasma Storm Clownfish is admired for its vibrant orange body, bold irregular white patterning, and contrasting black edging. Captive bred for its unique appearance, no two Plasma Storm Clownfish are exactly alike, making each fish a truly individual showpiece.
Compatibility:
Peaceful to semi-territorial. Mixes well with gobies, blennies, wrasses, tangs, and other peaceful to moderately robust marine fish. Established pairs will defend their territory, particularly if hosting an anemone. Avoid mixing with other clownfish species in smaller aquariums.
Reef Compatibility:
Reef-safe. Completely safe with corals and most ornamental invertebrates. May naturally host in compatible anemones, although one is not required for a healthy captive environment.
Diet:
Omnivore – readily accepts high-quality marine pellets, flakes, mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, chopped seafood, and frozen marine foods. Feed 1–2 times daily to maintain excellent health and vibrant coloration.
Water Parameters:
- Temperature: 24–27°C
- Salinity: 1.023–1.026 SG
- pH: 8.1–8.4
- Minimum Tank Size: 80L (100L+ recommended for a pair)
Care Level:
Easy – hardy, adaptable, and an excellent choice for both beginner and experienced marine aquarists. Tank-bred specimens acclimate well and readily accept prepared foods.
Top Tip:
Provide plenty of rockwork and hiding places to establish a secure territory. Purchasing an established pair or introducing two young fish together offers the best chance of forming a compatible breeding pair.
