Description
Striped Blenny (Meiacanthus grammistes / Striped Fangblenny)
A small, peaceful, and visually striking marine species, the Striped Blenny is easily recognised by its elongated body with bold horizontal stripes. Known for its active and curious behaviour, it is a charming addition to reef and community aquariums.
Compatibility:
Peaceful to semi-aggressive. Best kept with other non-aggressive species such as gobies, clownfish, and tangs. Avoid very aggressive or large predatory fish that may stress or harm it.
Reef Compatibility:
Generally reef-safe. Harmless to corals and invertebrates, making it suitable for live rock and reef setups.
Diet:
Carnivore – feeds on small meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. Feed 1–2 times daily in small portions to encourage natural hunting behaviour.
Water Parameters:
- Temperature: 24–27°C
- Salinity: 1.023–1.026 SG
- pH: 8.1–8.4
- Minimum Tank Size: 120L
Care Level:
Moderate – hardy once acclimated, but benefits from a well-established aquarium with plenty of hiding spots and stable water conditions.
Top Tip:
Provide live rock and sand substrate for natural exploration and hiding. Keeping it in a peaceful community tank helps encourage active and healthy behaviour while reducing stress.
