Habitat
Native to the forests of southern Africa, the Spotted Fire Millipede thrives in warm, humid environments with plenty of places to burrow and hide.
- Enclosure: Secure terrestrial enclosure with good ventilation
- Temperature: 22–26°C
- Humidity: High (70–80%)
- Decor: Cork bark, leaf litter, moss, and decaying wood to provide shelter and encourage natural behaviour
Feeding
As a detritivore, this species feeds primarily on decaying organic matter.
- Diet: Decaying leaf litter, rotting hardwood, vegetables such as cucumber, courgette, and carrot, with occasional fruit
- Feeding frequency: Fresh food should be offered several times a week, removing any uneaten portions before they spoil
- A constant supply of leaf litter and decaying wood should always be available

Spotted Fire Millipedes are hardy, peaceful, and require very little maintenance when provided with the correct environment.
- Temperament: Calm and slow-moving
- Handling: Can be handled gently, though minimal handling is recommended to reduce stress
- Lifespan: Around 5–7 years with proper care
