Sally Lightfoot Crab (Percnon gibbesi / Sally Lightfoot Crab)
A fast-moving and highly effective algae grazer, the Sally Lightfoot Crab is a popular member of marine clean-up crews. With its long legs, flattened body, and agile nature, it is excellent at reaching areas of the aquarium that many other invertebrates cannot.
Compatibility:
Generally peaceful when young. Compatible with most community marine fish and reef inhabitants. Larger specimens can become opportunistic and may prey on weakened fish, small invertebrates, or scavenge aggressively if underfed.
Reef Compatibility:
Reef-safe with caution. Excellent for controlling nuisance algae and detritus, but larger adults may occasionally disturb corals or target small invertebrates. Best monitored as they mature.
Diet:
Omnivore – feeds primarily on algae, detritus, and uneaten food. Will also accept marine pellets, algae wafers, seaweed, and occasional meaty foods.

Care Level:
Easy – hardy, adaptable, and suitable for most established marine aquariums with stable water conditions.
Top Tip:
Excellent for algae control, especially in larger reef systems. Ensure it receives supplemental feeding as it grows, as larger individuals can become more opportunistic when natural food sources are limited.
