Description
Royal Blue Damselfish (Chrysiptera springeri)
A stunning and hardy marine species, the Royal Blue Damselfish (Springeri) is prized for its vivid electric blue coloration, compact size, and active, lively behaviour. Perfect for reef and community aquariums, this species adds a brilliant pop of colour and natural activity to the tank.
Compatibility:
Semi-aggressive. Can be territorial, especially in smaller tanks or when keeping multiple damselfish. Best housed with robust, non-aggressive species such as clownfish, gobies, and small tangs. Avoid pairing with very timid fish.
Reef Compatibility:
Generally reef-safe. Rarely harms corals or invertebrates, making it suitable for live rock and reef setups.
Diet:
Omnivore – thrives on a varied diet of high-quality marine flakes, pellets, frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. Multiple small feedings per day help maintain vibrant colour and activity.
Water Parameters:
- Temperature: 24–27°C
- Salinity: 1.023–1.026 SG
- pH: 8.1–8.4
- Minimum Tank Size: 120L
Care Level:
Easy – hardy, adaptable, and ideal for both beginner and experienced marine hobbyists.
Top Tip:
Provide ample rockwork and hiding spots to reduce territorial disputes. Keeping in a moderately sized group or alongside peaceful tank mates encourages natural behaviour and reduces aggression.
