Red Sea Cleaner Wrasse (Larabicus quadrilineatus / Fourline Cleaner Wrasse)

The Red Sea Cleaner Wrasse is a striking and fascinating marine species native to the Red Sea. Juveniles are recognised for their bold blue and black colouration and perform natural cleaning behaviour, removing parasites and dead tissue from larger reef fish. As they mature, their appearance and feeding behaviour change considerably, making this a particularly interesting but specialised species.

Compatibility:
Peaceful to semi-aggressive. Generally suitable with tangs, angelfish, butterflyfish, clownfish, and other reef fish. Juveniles may establish cleaning stations visited by larger tankmates, while adults can become more assertive.

Reef Compatibility:
Reef-safe with caution. Juveniles primarily act as cleaner fish, but adults undergo a significant dietary change and are known to feed on coral polyps, particularly SPS corals. For this reason, mature specimens may not be suitable for conventional reef aquariums.

Diet:
Carnivore/Corallivore – juveniles naturally consume parasites, mucus, and tissue from other fish. Offer mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, finely chopped seafood, copepods, and high-quality marine preparations. Adults naturally incorporate coral polyps into their diet, which needs to be considered before purchase.

  • Salinity: 1.023–1.026 SG
  • pH: 8.1–8.4
  • Minimum Tank Size: 250L

Care Level:
Advanced – this species has specialised natural feeding behaviour and can be challenging to maintain long-term. A mature, stable aquarium and a specimen already confidently accepting prepared foods are strongly recommended.

Top Tip:
Don't confuse the Red Sea Cleaner Wrasse with the more familiar Labroides dimidiatus. Larabicus quadrilineatus changes considerably as it matures, with adults becoming coral feeders. Always plan for the adult fish and its dietary requirements, rather than purchasing solely for the juvenile's cleaning behaviour.

Standard Parcel Delivery

Our standard parcel delivery charges are calculated according to the weight of your order and the available delivery service.

Orders placed before 12 noon may be dispatched the same day on our current dispatch days.

Express Pallet

75–500kg • Usually 1–3 working days

Designed for large and heavy orders that cannot be sent using our standard parcel service.

Please note: We currently dispatch parcels Wednesday to Friday.
