Koran Angelfish (Pomacanthus semicirculatus / Koran Angel)
A bold and majestic marine species, the Koran Angelfish is admired for its dramatic transformation from juvenile to adult coloration. Juveniles display striking blue and white curved stripes, while adults develop rich blue-green bodies with yellow highlights, making this fish a true centrepiece in larger marine aquariums.
Compatibility:
Semi-aggressive. Best kept with other robust species such as tangs, wrasses, triggers, and larger angelfish. Can become territorial as it matures, especially in smaller tanks. Avoid very small or timid tankmates.
Reef Compatibility:
Not fully reef-safe. May nip at soft corals, LPS corals, clams, and sessile invertebrates. Best suited for fish-only systems or carefully monitored mixed reefs.
Diet:
Omnivore – requires a varied diet including sponge-based angelfish foods, marine algae, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. Feed 2–3 times daily for optimal health and colour development.

- Salinity: 1.023–1.026 SG
- pH: 8.1–8.4
- Minimum Tank Size: 500L
Care Level:
Moderate to Advanced – requires a large, mature aquarium with stable water parameters, excellent filtration, and plenty of live rock for grazing and shelter.
Top Tip:
Provide ample swimming space along with rock structures for security. Introduce young specimens where possible, as juveniles often adapt more easily to aquarium life and display one of the hobby’s most dramatic colour changes.
