The Iquitos Tiger Pleco (L226) is a beautifully patterned species of Hypancistrus, originating from the fast-flowing waters near Iquitos, Peru. This pleco is known for its intricate, tiger-like black and yellow striping that runs across its body and fins—creating a dynamic, eye-catching display perfect for aquascaped aquariums.
Smaller than many other plecos and relatively peaceful, the Iquitos Tiger Pleco is an excellent choice for hobbyists looking to add a unique bottom-dweller with manageable care requirements. It prefers warm, oxygen-rich water with plenty of caves, driftwood, and hiding spaces, and it tends to be most active during the evening hours.
