The Inspector Pleco (L102), also known as the Snowball Pleco, is a visually stunning species from the Hypancistrus genus, recognized for its dark black body covered in bright white or yellowish spots—resembling tiny snowballs on velvet. Native to the Rio Negro in Brazil, this pleco adds bold contrast and elegance to any aquarium.
Though somewhat shy and nocturnal, the Inspector Pleco is peaceful and relatively easy to care for. It appreciates caves and low lighting, making it a perfect choice for aquascaped or blackwater-style tanks. Unlike many plecos, it is not a significant algae grazer, but instead enjoys a varied diet of protein-rich foods.
