Green Severum
Latin name: Heros efasciatus
The Green Severum is a classic and highly popular South American cichlid, known for its rounded body shape, subtle green-gold sheen, and calm, intelligent nature. Often referred to as a “poor man’s discus,” this species offers similar elegance with much easier care requirements.

- Adult Size: 20–25 cm
- Temperature: 24–28°C
- pH: 6.0–7.5
- Tank Size: Minimum 250 litres
- Diet: Omnivorous — quality cichlid pellets, vegetables (peas, spinach), and occasional protein such as frozen foods
- Temperament: Generally peaceful for a cichlid; can become territorial when breeding
- Tank Setup: Spacious tank with driftwood, plants (use hardy species), and open swimming areas; good filtration required
