Four Line Pim Catfish (Pimelodus blochii)

The Four Line Pim Catfish is a beautiful and fascinating species, prized for its sleek silver body marked with four bold horizontal stripes. Native to the rivers and tributaries of South America, this active catfish makes a lively addition to community aquariums with medium to large tankmates.

Reaching an adult size of 8–10 inches, the Four Line Pim is larger than many common catfish species, so it requires a spacious aquarium of at least 200 litres. They are fast swimmers that enjoy open water, but they also appreciate plenty of hiding spaces, such as driftwood, caves, and rockwork, to feel secure.

This species is hardy and adaptable, tolerating a wide range of water conditions, making it suitable for aquarists with some experience. Like most Pimelodid catfish, they are best kept with similar-sized or larger fish, as smaller tankmates may be mistaken for food.

  • Active, especially at night, but often visible during the day.

  • Peaceful towards similar-sized fish but predatory towards smaller species.

  • Can be kept singly or in groups, though a group will need a larger tank.

🍴 Diet:
An opportunistic omnivore, the Four Line Pim Catfish will happily accept sinking pellets, frozen foods (bloodworm, krill, white mosquito larvae), and live foods. They also scavenge for leftovers, helping to keep the substrate cleaner.

Standard Parcel Delivery

Our standard parcel delivery charges are calculated according to the weight of your order and the available delivery service.

Orders placed before 12 noon may be dispatched the same day on our current dispatch days.

Express Pallet

75–500kg • Usually 1–3 working days

Designed for large and heavy orders that cannot be sent using our standard parcel service.

Please note: We currently dispatch parcels Wednesday to Friday.
