Flashback Pygmy Basslet (Pictichromis diadema / Diadem Dottyback)
The Flashback Pygmy Basslet is a striking and colourful marine fish, recognised for its vibrant combination of deep purple, brilliant yellow, and electric blue highlights. Despite its small size, this species is bold, inquisitive, and full of personality, making it an eye-catching addition to marine aquariums.
Compatibility:
Semi-aggressive. Best kept with similarly sized or larger, confident species such as clownfish, wrasses, gobies, blennies, and tangs. Can be territorial towards other dottybacks and similarly shaped fish, particularly in smaller aquariums.
Reef Compatibility:
Reef-safe. Safe with corals, but may prey on very small ornamental shrimp and other tiny crustaceans. Suitable for most reef aquariums with appropriate tankmates.
Diet:
Carnivore – feeds on small crustaceans and zooplankton. Offer a varied diet including mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, copepods, finely chopped seafood, and high-quality marine pellets. Feed 1–2 times daily.
