Description
Hyphessobrycon myrmex
The Fire Ant Tetra is a stunning and relatively uncommon dwarf tetra, prized for the incredible fiery red to orange colouration displayed by mature males. Females are generally much more subtle in colour, creating an interesting contrast when these beautiful little fish are maintained in a good-sized group.
Originating from Brazil, this tiny species is perfect for planted aquariums where its intense colours can really stand out against lush green plants and darker backgrounds. Despite its small size, a well-conditioned group can create an incredibly impressive display.
