Description
Clarkii Clownfish – Maldives (Amphiprion clarkii / Clark’s Clownfish)
A bold and adaptable marine species, the Clarkii Clownfish is recognised for its vibrant yellow body, contrasting black markings, and crisp white bands. Originating from the Maldives region, this hardy clownfish is known for its active personality and strong compatibility with a wide range of host anemones.
Compatibility:
Semi-aggressive. Best kept with peaceful to moderately robust species such as gobies, blennies, wrasses, and tangs. Can become territorial, particularly when paired or hosting an anemone. Avoid mixing with timid clownfish species in smaller aquariums.
Reef Compatibility:
Reef-safe. Harmless to corals and most invertebrates. Frequently forms symbiotic relationships with anemones, though this is not essential for successful captive care.
Diet:
Omnivore – feeds on marine pellets, flakes, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. Feed 1–2 times daily to maintain health and vibrant colouration.
Water Parameters:
- Temperature: 24–27°C
- Salinity: 1.023–1.026 SG
- pH: 8.1–8.4
- Minimum Tank Size: 100L
Care Level:
Easy – hardy, adaptable, and ideal for beginner and experienced marine aquarists alike. Tank-bred specimens are especially resilient and easy to acclimate.
Top Tip:
Provide plenty of live rock and secure hiding spaces. Clarkii Clownfish are active and confident, so allowing adequate territory helps reduce aggression as they mature.
