Chalk Goby – West Indian Ocean (Gobiodon spp. / Chalk Goby)
A small and peaceful marine species, the Chalk Goby is known for its subtle pale coloration, elongated body, and charming behaviour. Ideal for reef and community aquariums, it adds natural activity and interest without disturbing corals.
Compatibility:
Peaceful. Mixes well with small to medium-sized community fish such as clownfish, blennies, and gobies. Avoid aggressive tankmates that may harass smaller species.
Reef Compatibility:
Reef-safe. Harmless to corals and invertebrates, making it ideal for reef setups.
Diet:
Carnivore – feeds on small meaty foods such as mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood. Will also accept high-quality marine flakes or pellets. Feed 2–3 times daily for best health and coloration.

- Salinity: 1.023–1.026 SG
- pH: 8.1–8.4
- Minimum Tank Size: 60–80L
Care Level:
Easy – hardy once acclimated, requires stable water conditions and sufficient hiding spaces among live rock or reef structures.
Top Tip:
Provide ample rock crevices and live rock for security. Feed small, meaty foods regularly to maintain vibrant colours and natural activity.
