The Chaco Golden Knee Tarantula is a beautiful New World terrestrial species originating from South America. Instantly recognisable by its dark body, contrasting golden bands across the legs and impressive adult size, Grammostola pulchripes is also well known for its generally calm nature. Its striking appearance, steady growth and fascinating feeding behaviour make it a popular choice for both newer and experienced tarantula keepers.
Habitat
Chaco Golden Knees are terrestrial tarantulas that spend most of their time at ground level.

Enclosure: Secure, well-ventilated terrestrial enclosure with plenty of floor space

Temperature: Approximately 22–26°C

Humidity: Low to moderate humidity is generally suitable

Moisture: Avoid excessively wet or stagnant conditions

Decor: Cork bark or another suitable retreat should be provided, along with additional cover

A shallow water dish should always be available for larger juveniles and adults

As with other heavy-bodied terrestrial tarantulas, excessive climbing opportunities should be avoided to reduce the risk of injury from falls
Feeding
Chaco Golden Knee Tarantulas are enthusiastic predators and generally accept a wide variety of appropriately sized live invertebrates.

Diet: Crickets, locusts, roaches, mealworms and other suitable feeder insects

Spiderlings/Juveniles: Small appropriately sized prey can be offered regularly as they grow

Adults: Generally fed around once a week, adjusted according to body condition
