RAPTOR Leopard Gecko (Eublepharis macularius)

The RAPTOR Leopard Gecko is one of the most striking and sought-after leopard gecko morphs, renowned for its vivid orange-red eyes, bold patterning, and vibrant colours. The name RAPTOR stands for Red-eye Albino Patternless Tremper Orange, highlighting the unique traits that make this morph so desirable. Hardy, inquisitive, and easy to care for, the RAPTOR Leopard Gecko is an excellent choice for both beginner and experienced reptile keepers.

Habitat

Leopard Geckos originate from the rocky grasslands and arid regions of Afghanistan, Pakistan, and northern India, where they inhabit burrows and rocky outcrops.

  • Enclosure: Secure terrestrial vivarium with plenty of floor space
  • Temperature:
    • Warm side: 30–32°C
    • Cool side: 24–26°C
  • Humidity: Low (30–40%) with a humid hide to aid shedding
  • Lighting: UVB lighting is beneficial, although not essential when proper supplementation is provided
  • Decor: Cork bark hides, rocks, climbing décor, and multiple hiding places for security

Feeding

RAPTOR Leopard Geckos are enthusiastic insectivores and thrive on a varied diet of live insects.

  • Diet: Crickets, locusts, roaches, mealworms, calciworms, and occasional waxworms as treats
  • Feeding frequency:
    • Juveniles: Daily or every other day
    • Adults: 2–3 times per week
  • Dust feeder insects regularly with calcium and vitamin supplements, and always provide fresh water

General Care

Leopard Geckos are hardy, long-lived reptiles with calm personalities, making them one of the most rewarding reptiles to keep.

  • Temperament: Calm, curious, and generally easy to tame
  • Handling: Suitable for gentle, regular handling once settled into their new home
  • Lifespan: 15–20+ years with proper care
  • Maintenance: Spot clean regularly, monitor temperatures, and ensure fresh water and supplements are always available
