Description
Bluefin Angelfish (Centropyge multispinis / Multispined Angelfish)
A subtle yet elegant marine species, the Bluefin Angelfish is recognised for its muted grey-brown body highlighted by delicate blue edging on the fins. Its understated beauty and active grazing behaviour make it a great addition to reef and community aquariums.
Compatibility:
Semi-aggressive. Best kept with peaceful to moderately robust species such as tangs, wrasses, gobies, and clownfish. Can be territorial with other dwarf angelfish, especially in smaller tanks.
Reef Compatibility:
Reef-safe with caution. May occasionally nip at soft corals or sessile invertebrates, but generally considered suitable for reef aquariums with monitoring.
Diet:
Omnivore – feeds on a mix of marine algae, spirulina-based foods, and small meaty items such as mysis shrimp and brine shrimp. Regular feeding helps maintain health and colouration. Feed 1–2 times daily.
Water Parameters:
- Temperature: 24–27°C
- Salinity: 1.023–1.026 SG
- pH: 8.1–8.4
- Minimum Tank Size: 150L
Care Level:
Moderate – hardy once acclimated, but benefits from a mature aquarium with stable water conditions and plenty of live rock for grazing.
Top Tip:
Provide ample live rock for natural grazing and hiding. Introduce into a well-established tank to reduce stress and encourage natural feeding behaviour.
