Hillstream Trout
Latin name: Barilius barila
The Hillstream Trout is a fast-swimming and beautifully patterned river fish, prized for its torpedo-shaped body, metallic sheen, and active behaviour. Native to cool, fast-flowing streams, this species thrives in highly oxygenated aquariums with strong current and plenty of swimming space.

- Adult Size: 10–15 cm
- Temperature: 18–24°C
- pH: 6.5–7.5
- Tank Size: Minimum 150 litres
- Diet: Omnivorous — quality flakes, small pellets, frozen foods, insects, and live foods
- Temperament: Peaceful but very active; best kept in groups of 5 or more
- Tank Setup: Strong water flow, high oxygen levels, smooth rocks, open swimming areas, and powerful filtration
