Banded Trochus Snail (Trochus sp. / Banded Trochus Snail)

The Banded Trochus Snail is one of the most effective and popular members of a marine clean-up crew. Recognised by its attractive banded conical shell, it is an excellent algae grazer that helps keep aquarium glass, live rock, and décor free from nuisance algae. Unlike many snails, Trochus snails can often right themselves if overturned.

Compatibility:
Peaceful. Compatible with all reef-safe fish, corals, and invertebrates. An ideal addition to both reef and fish-only marine aquariums.

Reef Compatibility:
Reef-safe. Completely safe with corals and ornamental invertebrates while providing excellent algae control.

Diet:
Herbivore – feeds primarily on film algae, diatoms, and other nuisance algae growing on glass, rockwork, and aquarium surfaces. Supplement with algae wafers or dried seaweed if natural algae becomes limited.

Water Parameters:

  • Temperature: 24–27°C
  • Salinity: 1.023–1.026 SG
  • pH: 8.1–8.4
  • Minimum Tank Size: 40L

Care Level:
Easy – hardy, adaptable, and suitable for aquarists of all experience levels.

Top Tip:
Banded Trochus Snails are among the few marine snails that can usually flip themselves upright if they fall onto their backs, making them a resilient and reliable choice for long-term clean-up crews. Supplement their diet if algae levels become too low to ensure continued good health.

Order anything from our in-store range and have it delivered right to you.

Distances are measured “as the crow flies”, not by road.

Once your order is placed, we’ll be in touch to arrange a suitable delivery date and time.
Please note, delivery may take a little longer as we often group orders together to build an efficient delivery run.

Important: If you’re ordering a large aquarium, please ensure someone is available to help unload the van on arrival.

  • DX Express: 1 working day, same-day dispatch before noon 0-75kg

  • Express Pallet: 1–3 working days 75-500kg
