The Apistogramma pandurini, also known as the Panduro Apistogramma, is a rare and eye-catching dwarf cichlid from the Amazon Basin of Peru. It is admired for its deep body shape, striking black facial markings, and bold blotch along the flank, which contrasts beautifully with shades of blue, yellow, and purple that intensify in healthy, well-kept fish.
These intelligent cichlids are full of personality and thrive in aquariums with plenty of plants, caves, and driftwood. They are best kept as pairs or small harems in soft, slightly acidic water. During breeding, males display even more vibrant colours, while females take on a bright yellow hue to guard their brood.
