Apistogramma macmasteri – A Bold Beauty in a Compact Size
The Apistogramma macmasteri is a stunning and hardy dwarf cichlid native to the Orinoco River basin in Colombia. Known for its vibrant coloration, prominent finnage, and peaceful nature, this species is a favorite among Apistogramma enthusiasts. Males display striking shades of red, orange, and blue with elongated dorsal and anal fins, while females are smaller and show a more subdued yellow coloration—especially vibrant during breeding.
Apistogramma macmasteri thrives in well-planted aquariums with soft, acidic water and plenty of hiding spaces. Their curious and engaging behavior makes them a delightful addition to peaceful community tanks or dedicated Apistogramma setups.
