Green Fantasy Horned Frog (Ceratophrys cranwelli)
The Green Fantasy Horned Frog is a stunning colour morph of the popular Horned Frog, admired for its vibrant green patterning, chunky body, and enormous appetite. Often referred to as a Pac-Man Frog, this charismatic amphibian is an ambush predator that spends much of its time waiting patiently for prey to come within striking distance. Hardy and easy to care for, it's an excellent choice for both beginner and experienced amphibian keepers.
Habitat
Native to the grasslands and forests of South America, Green Fantasy Horned Frogs thrive in warm, humid terrestrial environments.
- Enclosure: Secure terrestrial terrarium with plenty of floor space
- Temperature: 22–28°C
- Humidity: Moderate to high (60–80%)
- Decor: Moss, leaf litter, cork bark hides, and a shallow water dish for soaking
Feeding
These frogs are enthusiastic feeders with a powerful feeding response.
- Diet: Crickets, roaches, locusts, earthworms, and occasional pinkie mice for large adults

- Juveniles: Every 1–2 days
- Adults: 2–3 times per week
- Dust feeder insects regularly with calcium and vitamin supplements
General Care
Green Fantasy Horned Frogs are low-maintenance but are best appreciated as display animals.
- Temperament: Bold, sedentary, and food-driven
- Handling: Minimal handling recommended, as they can become stressed and may bite when startled or feeding
- Lifespan: Around 6–10 years with proper care
- Maintenance: Keep the enclosure clean, maintain consistent humidity, and ensure fresh, dechlorinated water is always available
