Bi-Colour Angelfish (Centropyge bicolor)
A bold and instantly recognisable marine species, the Bi-Colour Angelfish features a striking split of vibrant yellow and deep royal blue. This eye-catching dwarf angelfish adds real contrast and personality to any saltwater setup, making it a standout choice for more experienced aquarists.
Compatibility:
Semi-aggressive. Best kept with similarly robust species such as tangs, wrasse, larger clownfish, and other semi-aggressive community fish. Avoid housing with very small or timid species. Can be territorial towards other dwarf angelfish unless in a large, well-established system.
Reef Compatibility:
Not fully reef-safe. May nip at soft corals, LPS, and clam mantles, so caution is advised in reef tanks.
Diet:
Omnivore – requires a varied diet to thrive. Feed a mix of high-quality marine pellets, frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and algae-based foods such as spirulina. Including sponge-based angelfish preparations is highly beneficial.
Water Parameters:
- Temperature: 24–27°C
- Salinity: 1.023–1.026 SG
- pH: 8.1–8.4
- Minimum Tank Size: 200L
Care Level:
Moderate – can be sensitive during acclimation and benefits from stable, mature aquariums with plenty of live rock for grazing and hiding.
Top Tip:
Provide plenty of rockwork and grazing opportunities to reduce aggression and encourage natural feeding behaviour.
