Description
Yellow Angelfish – Fiji (Centropyge heraldi / Yellow Dwarf Angel)
A vibrant and elegant dwarf angelfish, the Yellow Angelfish from Fiji is prized for its solid bright yellow coloration and active personality. Its clean, uniform appearance makes it a standout feature in both reef and fish-focused marine aquariums.
Compatibility:
Semi-aggressive. Best kept with other moderately robust species such as clownfish, wrasses, gobies, and tangs. Can become territorial toward other dwarf angelfish, especially in smaller systems.
Reef Compatibility:
Reef-safe with caution. Generally considered one of the safer dwarf angelfish, but occasional nipping at soft corals, LPS corals, or clam mantles may occur depending on the individual.
Diet:
Omnivore – feeds on marine algae, spirulina-based foods, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and quality angelfish preparations (including sponge-based foods). Feed 2–3 times daily.
Water Parameters:
- Temperature: 24–27°C
- Salinity: 1.023–1.026 SG
- pH: 8.1–8.4
- Minimum Tank Size: 150L
Care Level:
Easy to Moderate – hardy once acclimated and well suited to mature aquariums with stable water conditions and plenty of live rock for grazing.
Top Tip:
Provide plenty of rockwork for grazing and shelter. A varied diet rich in algae and sponge helps maintain strong colour and reduces the likelihood of coral nipping.
