Description

Gladiator Clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris)

A spectacular designer clownfish, the Gladiator Clownfish is prized for its bold, exaggerated white patterning set against a rich orange body with black edging. Captive bred for its unique markings, each individual has its own distinctive pattern, making every fish truly one of a kind.

Compatibility:
Peaceful to semi-territorial. Compatible with gobies, blennies, wrasses, tangs, and other peaceful to moderately robust marine fish. As with all clownfish, established pairs will defend their chosen territory, especially if hosting an anemone. Avoid mixing with other clownfish species unless housed in a very large aquarium.

Reef Compatibility:
Reef-safe. Completely safe with corals and most ornamental invertebrates. May naturally host in compatible anemones, although this is not essential for captive care.

Diet:
Omnivore – readily accepts high-quality marine pellets, flakes, mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp, chopped seafood, and other frozen marine foods. Feed 1–2 times daily for optimum health and vibrant colouration.

Water Parameters:

  • Temperature: 24–27°C
  • Salinity: 1.023–1.026 SG
  • pH: 8.1–8.4
  • Minimum Tank Size: 80L (100L+ recommended for a pair)

Care Level:
Easy – hardy, adaptable, and ideal for both beginner and experienced marine aquarists. Captive-bred specimens are typically more resilient and readily accept prepared foods.

Top Tip:
Provide plenty of rockwork and shelter to establish a territory. If keeping a pair, introducing them together while young helps encourage natural pair bonding and reduces aggression.

Please note, delivery may take a little longer as we often group orders together to build an efficient delivery run.

Important: If you’re ordering a large aquarium, please ensure someone is available to help unload the van on arrival.
