Description
Lemonpeel Angelfish (Centropyge flavissima)
Bright, bold, and full of character, the Lemonpeel Angelfish is a striking dwarf species known for its vivid yellow body, electric blue eye ring, and blue edging along the fins. A real standout in any marine aquarium, this species adds both colour and personality to established setups.
Compatibility:
Semi-aggressive. Best kept with similarly robust tank mates such as tangs, wrasse, clownfish, and larger gobies. Can be territorial, particularly towards other dwarf angelfish, so only one is recommended unless housed in a larger system.
Reef Compatibility:
Not fully reef-safe. Known to nip at soft corals, LPS, zoanthids, and clam mantles, so caution is advised in reef tanks.
Diet:
Omnivore – requires a varied diet rich in both plant and protein sources. Feed marine pellets and flakes, frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and algae-based foods such as spirulina. Sponge-based angelfish preparations are highly recommended.
Water Parameters:
- Temperature: 24–27°C
- Salinity: 1.023–1.026 SG
- pH: 8.1–8.4
- Minimum Tank Size: 150L
Care Level:
Moderate – can be sensitive during acclimation and thrives best in mature, stable aquariums with plenty of live rock for grazing.
Top Tip:
Providing frequent small feedings and ample grazing surfaces can help reduce the likelihood of coral nipping and promote optimal health and colour.
