The Geophagus sveni "Rio Araguari" is a graceful and peaceful South American cichlid known for its soft coloration, iridescent highlights, and classic sand-sifting behavior. Native to the Rio Araguari in Brazil, this variant of G. sveni displays a shimmering body with hints of pink, gold, and blue, complemented by faint vertical bars and elegant finnage that becomes more pronounced with maturity.
Like other Geophagus species, G. sveni thrives in aquariums with fine sand substrates, which allow it to exhibit its natural foraging behavior—gently scooping and filtering sand through its gills. Its calm temperament and social nature make it an excellent choice for peaceful community or South American biotope tanks.
