The Chilli Red Oscar is a spectacular selectively bred variety of Oscar, prized for its intense red to orange-red colouration and powerful, unmistakable body shape. As these fish mature, their colours can become increasingly impressive, creating a bold centrepiece for a large freshwater aquarium.

Oscars are also famous for their intelligence and personality. They quickly learn to recognise their keeper, eagerly approach at feeding time and often become one of the most interactive fish in the aquarium hobby.

Care Information

  • Adult Size: Around 30–35 cm

  • Temperature: 24–28°C

  • pH: 6.0–7.5

  • Tank Size: Minimum 300 litres for a single adult, with significantly more space recommended for multiple Oscars

  • Diet: Omnivorous – quality large cichlid pellets should form the staple diet, supplemented with suitable frozen foods, insects and occasional appropriate fresh foods

  • Temperament: Large, confident and territorial; temperament varies between individuals

  • Compatibility: Best kept with similarly sized, robust fish that cannot be swallowed and are capable of living alongside large cichlids

  • Tank Setup: Provide plenty of open swimming space with sturdy rocks and large pieces of wood. Oscars may dig, move décor and uproot plants

  • Filtration: Powerful filtration and regular water changes are essential, as Oscars are large fish that produce a considerable amount of waste

Free delivery applies to eligible orders up to 20kg and excludes livestock, aquariums, terrariums and other oversized items.

Standard Parcel Delivery

Our standard parcel delivery charges are calculated according to the weight of your order and the available delivery service.

Orders placed before 12 noon may be dispatched the same day on our current dispatch days.

Express Pallet

75–500kg • Usually 1–3 working days

Designed for large and heavy orders that cannot be sent using our standard parcel service.

Please note: We currently dispatch parcels Wednesday to Friday.
